In 2005, we founded the R.E.A.C.T. program—Recreational Events Aiding Children’s Talents—to help prevent violence and empower youth through education, mentorship, intervention, and advocacy.

Purpose and Impact
For more than two decades, ASun Star has helped children, adults, and families access behavioral health, developmental, and community-based services designed around real life.
What began with a vision for a better way to support people has grown into a continuum of care across New Jersey and Pennsylvania—while remaining grounded in the belief that every person deserves to be seen, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Expanding the Vision
As needs grew, so did we. We listened. We learned. We expanded our services to support children, families, and communities in more meaningful ways.

Our services evolved to include behavioral health, autism and developmental disability support, family services, and community-based programs across the lifespan.

Nickie Alston’s journey has always been anchored in service, leadership, and empowering others.
As a proud titleholder in the Miss America Organization and Miss USA Pageant, she used her platform to advocate for youth, mental wellness, and community empowerment.
